About the Center

The Sister Ministers of the Sick of St. Camillus popularly known as Camillian Sisters is a religious congregation of women founded in 1829 in Lucca, Italy by Blessed Maria Domenica Brun Barbantini. Placed under the spiritual protection of Our Lady of Sorrows and St. Camillus de Lellis, the ultimate goal of the congregation is to give corporal and spiritual assistance to the sick in private homes, hospitals and other institutions.

As a sign of a Camillian Sisters devotion to God in the service of the sick, she wears a red cross on her habit from the moment she makes her religious profession as a Sister Minister of the Sick. The Camillian Sisters arrived in the Philippines on January 1979 and from the very beginning they have tried to reach out to people in need, especially to the sick among the urban poor of Loyola Heights, Quezon City.

In December 8, 1985 they transferred to Kingsville Subdivision, Mayamot, Antipolo, Rizal. As soon as they came to know the need of the people in this area, they organized medical services for the indigent sick.

In 1988, they started simple ambulatory services to the sick, especially the poor in the eastern part of Antipolo mostly in the hills.

In 1989, as the need to expand the medical services to a wider area of population and through the generous support of some good-hearted benefactors, they acquired a piece of property in Mambugan, Antipolo, Rizal already provided with two nipa huts one of which is converted into a small clinic.

The clinic was opened to serve the needs of the poor patient’s three half-days a week. Two volunteer doctors selflessly dedicated their time to serve the clinic growing clientele.

In 1990, the Opera Maria Domenica Polyclinic and Family Center was inaugurated. The Polyclinic offers: medical and dental services, laboratory and radiological procedures, rehabilitation services, EENT, TB program and social services.

In 2004 the Drug Test was added and consequently the Opera Maria Domenica Polyclinic and Family Center became “the Camillian Sisters Maria Domenica Polyclinic and Rehabilitation Center” in the first quarter of 2005.
